Sustainability Saves Money
According to the Federal Statistical Office (2023), every inhabitant in Germany “produces” 12.5 kg of electronic waste every year. And in industry too, PCs, monitors and many other electronic products are increasingly becoming disposable items: For “cost reasons”, people are increasingly opting for cheap goods, which are then consigned to the electronics graveyard after just 2 or 3 years in the event of a defect - quite a fiasco from the point of view of resource conservation and sustainability.
But that's not all, because this throwaway ideology also ignores important follow-up costs: The new replacement appliance often has different installation dimensions, the connections have changed or the mounting points no longer fit. All of this means additional work due to adjustments, additions or reworking. If these additional cost drivers are included in the overall assessment, the apparent “bargain” quickly turns out to be a money waster.
At Uticor, we have taken a different approach from the very beginning, which is reflected quite well in the various features of our products:
Temperature-Resistant Components
Our devices are suitable for a wide temperature range and therefore offer high reliability with fewer failures even without additional cooling.
Stainless Steel For Maximum Durability
Whether front or rear, we rely on stainless steel in the classic way. It has proven itself in tough industrial environments and is practically indestructible. This type of construction is more expensive than using plastic or aluminum. However, it is largely insensitive and - very importantly - it lasts considerably longer!
Use Of Low-Power Boards
This optimizes power consumption and at the same time reduces the susceptibility to repair due to a mechanical defect (e.g. fan).
Identical Mounting Points Since 2002
The cut-out dimensions and mounting points of all the PCs and monitors we have ever developed remain identical. This means that you can easily replace any device even years later without additional adjustments.
In-House Repair
And if something does happen? We will provide you with a specific fault analysis of the defect and the estimated costs. And in our own workshop, we only replace the parts that are really faulty.
Repair-Friendly Design
When it comes to repairs, it also helps that our appliances are designed to be particularly robust and repair-friendly, allowing individual components to be checked relatively quickly and easily and replaced if necessary. That is budget-friendly and also extends the overall operating life of the appliance.
By focusing on longevity, energy efficiency and easy replacement, we contribute to the conscious use of all our resources.
>>> And that's what you can do as a user of electronic products additionally: <<<
Match the processor performance to your application.
It doesn't always have to be Intel's top CPU! One category below is often enough. This not only makes your electricity bill more pleasant, but is also easy to your budget.
Choose the right equipment.
On the other hand, you should not be so stingy when it comes to RAM and hard disk size: Both increase the performance of your device significantly at moderate additional cost, and without significant additional power consumption.
Extend the operating life.
If you realize after a few years that the performance is no longer sufficient, you can extend the service life by upgrading with more RAM and a larger SSD.
Focus on quality, robustness and interchangeability of components.
Otherwise, what we said at the beginning applies: We believe that an electronic device should never be a disposable item. You should therefore give preference to suppliers of high-quality and robust devices that are also designed to be easy to repair.
If you take all these points into account, you will get the most out of your budget, reduce your costs in the long term and also conserve increasingly scarce resources. We would be happy to make you a suitable offer!
